Synplicity Announces Support for Xilinx's New Virtex-II Pro Device Family
Synplicity to Provide Optimal Physical Synthesis and High-Level Design Support
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 2002--Synplicity,
Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNP - news), a leading supplier of software for the design and
verification of semiconductors, today announced its
market-share-leading FPGA synthesis and physical synthesis software,
Synplify Pro® and Amplify® Physical Optimizer(TM), now provide
optimal support for the new Xilinx® Virtex-II Pro(TM) device family.
With this announcement, Synplicity offers customers an ideal solution
for optimizing the unprecedented level of integration offered by the
Virtex-II Pro devices -- the world's first FPGA devices to immerse
high-performance IBM PowerPC processors.
"Our customers using Synplicity's Synplify Pro and Amplify
synthesis software consistently receive very high quality of results
from our devices," said Rich Sevcik, senior vice president of FPGA
Products at Xilinx. "Furthermore, Synplicity's Amplify physical
synthesis capability offers a tremendous performance advantage to
Virtex-II Pro users by driving placement for logic that interfaces
with the multi-gigabit serial Rocket I/OTMs for high-performance
designs."
The Synplify Pro logic synthesis software support for Virtex-II
Pro FPGAs offers customers optimized performance through its direct
mapping to the Virtex-II Pro architecture, enabling the rapid design
and development of these new high-performance devices. The Amplify
software also offers customers an ideal solution for optimizing
critical paths that interface to the PowerPC and multi-gigabit serial
transceiver technology in the new Virtex-II Pro devices.
"Virtex-II Pro FPGAs represent a significant step in the evolution
of programmable logic devices and we are pleased to be able to offer
optimal support for these high-performance devices," said Andy Haines,
vice president of marketing at Synplicity. "We have worked closely
with Xilinx to create an optimized flow between our FPGA synthesis
solutions and this new class of devices. We believe customers
incorporating our design capability along with Xilinx's Virtex-II Pro
devices will be able to achieve the highest possible performance from
these devices."
Ideal Solution for System-Level Design and IP Integration
In order to accelerate the design process from concept to
implementation for these highly complex Virtex-II Pro devices,
Synplicity offers system-level designers a direct path from C++-to-HDL
design and verification flow via its relationship with Forte Design
Systems. Additionally, since Xilinx has selected Synplicity's FPGA
synthesis technology for all internal RTL-based IP development,
designers can obtain the best quality of results when implementing
Xilinx IP into the new Virtex-II Pro devices by leveraging this
jointly developed Synplicity-based design flow for IP integration.
About Synplify Pro and Amplify Physical Optimizer Software
Synplicity's Synplify Pro software helps programmable logic
designers rapidly achieve aggressive performance objectives. The
Synplify Pro software takes designs written in VHDL or Verilog as
input, and compiles, optimizes and maps them into small,
high-performance netlists for all leading CPLD and FPGA devices. The
Synplify Pro software offers high quality of results and fast runtimes
along with an expanded feature set optimized to increase performance
and productivity for today's complex programmable devices.
The Amplify Physical Optimizer software is the first physical
synthesis tool for FPGAs. The Amplify software improves circuit
performance and timing closure and accelerates productivity by
performing simultaneous placement and logic optimization during the
synthesis process. The Amplify Physical Optimizer product was created
specifically for designers who need high performance from high-density
Altera and Xilinx devices.
Pricing and Availability
Support for the Virtex-II Pro devices by the Synplify Pro and
Amplify Physical Optimizer synthesis solutions is available now.
Pricing for Synplify Pro software starts at $19,000 (U.S.) and pricing
for the Amplify Physical Optimizer software begins at $25,000 (U.S.).
